We are looking for a Business Development Manager

E25Bio, rapid diagnostic innovators backed by MIT’s The Engine and Khosla Ventures, is seeking an experienced Head of Software Engineering. You will be at the cutting edge of building a venture-backed company from the ground up, working with an incredibly eclectic and talented team of science and business leaders all while providing diagnostic solutions for COVID-19, dengue, Zika, and whatever comes next. This position reports directly to the Lead Engineer and will involve extensive communication with users, scientists, and key stakeholders.

You will be expected to collaborate extensively with the scientists and engineers on the team, and support lab activities.

Actual Job Description

As the team’s first full time Software Engineer you will be responsible for building out ideas from functional requirements, developing those ideas into industry grade solutions, and solving rapidly changing problems on the fly. You will translate the vision into code and code into solutions.

Specific responsibilities

The Head of Software engineering has the following specific responsibilities:

  • Develop new software packages that reflect the end user’s requirements
  • Interface directly with the clinical team, lab scientists, and key stakeholders.
  • Own technical software roadmap and be expected to report out on a regular basis.
  • Identify key hires and grow the software team through Series A funding.
  • Rigorously define functional requirements based on input from colleagues.
  • Maintain market awareness for competitive software suites in this field.


A successful candidate for the Head of Software engineering position needs to meet the following requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience developing front and backend software
  • 2+ years taking lead on developments including owning timelines
  • Have, at minimum, a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience (Advanced degree preferred)
  • Experience working with early stage startups, and an efficient communicator who is capable of fluidly moving between different subject areas and project foci.
  • A strong fundamental understanding of software development best practices and the ability to write clean, concise code
  • Experience in a heavily regulated, preferably medical, field
